A note from our Designer - Adrinna
As a girl in Alberta I dream't about travel and adventure in far flung places. As soon as I was able, I boarded a plane and spent a decade living and working all over Europe.
During this time I had many happy adventures in the great galleries, museums and antique markets that seemed to be around virtually every corner. It was on such an outing that I came across my first wax seals. Initially drawn to their symbolism and meaning, I quickly realized that each seal was also a miniature work of art in its own right.
Over time I built my own collection of many thousands of rare and beautiful antique seals which are now proudly displayed in my studio.
My other great joy in life is making Jewelry. While travelling in Northern Thailand on a whim, I took the opportunity to train with a master goldsmith. Putting aside the language barrier, I learned through demonstration and repetition, the basics of a skill I have endeavored to master ever since.
At the intersection of my passions - collecting wax seals and goldsmithing - is Plum and Posey.
Wax seals to me are impressions of another time, each a miniature work of art in its own right with its own intrinsic meaning and symbolism. I love to make jewelry using these fascinating designs and giving them a new lease of life, celebrating the amazing artists of the Georgian and Victorian eras, whose fine craftsmanship help make my work possible. These are just a few images from a collection of many thousands of seals.
Plum and Posey creates meaningful and timeless jewelry crafted from casts of antique wax seals. Each design is lovingly chosen from our treasured collection of many rare and beautiful seals, collected from around the world by our designer Adrinna Hardy.
To determine each seals authentic meaning, we thoroughly research each seals imagery and inscriptions, using much loved and rare editions of 18th and 19th century heraldic texts.
Our pieces incorporate themes such as hope, courage, strength and inspiration, among many others.
The imagery of Heraldry has always been about showing people who you are. Dragons are Cunning, Lions are Brave, Eagles are Fearless. What are you?
